Year, Awarded South Carolina Venue of the Year

The Theatre that is credited with changing the face of Myrtle Beach's live entertainment industry is doing it again! Friday night February 8th at 8 PM the 2002 premiere of "ONE" opened to standing ovations!

This Show was critically acclaimed as the most spectacular on the East Coast when it hit the entertainment scene last year at the Alabama Theatre. Produced out of Nashville, "ONE" is colossal entertainment on every level! "It's more than a show... We are really proud of this production," states John Haywood, the show's Executive Producer with Gaylord Productions.

"'ONE' is a superb mastery of eclectic musical genres, awesome vocals, fresh comedy and best-loved classic favorites in an unforgettable evening of stunningly choreographed dance numbers, dazzling special effects and all-round family fun," states Bob Wood, President and CEO of the Alabama Theatre.

"This show never stops entertaining...you've got to see it to believe it!" states Randy Owen, lead singer of Supergroup ALABAMA, the theatre's namesake.

Featured performers in "ONE" include the charismatic Greg Rowles, winner of Ed McMahon's Star Search "Male Vocalist of the Year". Greg's victory by eighteen million voters marked the first time in the show's history that fans voted on their favorite performer. Since Star Search, Greg has stayed busy hosting television shows, writing songs and playing for MCA Records sessions. Greg wrote the music, lyrics and performed for the EPA Special "Livin' on the Environmental Edge" which premiers this Earth Day on PBS. Greg makes his acting debut as a leading man this year in an independent film called "The Look of Love."

Also headlined is nationally recognized comedian Grant Turner, winner of the prestigious Aspen Comedy Festival, with appearances on NBC and A&E's Evening at the Improv. His relaxed, wholesome, storytelling style garnered him a TV contract with Disney Studios, as well as appearances on TNN's Prime Time Country, and the John Boy and Billy Show. Whether he's performing as himself, or as Ricky Mokel the "gifted idiot", Grant has a way of capturing the socioeconomic gamut of the South observes Don Jones, Co-Director and writer for the show. "I try to portray Southerners in a positive way," says Turner, a native of Decatur, Georgia. "We're naturally funny people and we should enjoy ourselves in ways that are both fresh and true." Grant's unique style of humor has both old and young alike laughing in the aisles.

In addition to over 15 new musical arrangements in this year's blockbuster production are extraordinary costumes by Costume Designer, Deborah Morrison of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The remarkable multi-talented entertainers and world class musicians deliver two hours of incredible music, dance and comedy. "No wonder it's called the most spectacular variety show on the East Coast," says Bob Whittaker, President of The Grand Ole Opry.

"ONE" is performed six nights a week and made its official debut at 8:00 PM on February 8th and runs through October 23rd. Now you don't have to go to Las Vegas or Broadway to see world-class entertainment...experience "ONE" at the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach, SC.
