Now there is an easy alternative, thanks to a new online tax extension request service offered through Alabama's official Web site at www.alabama.gov. The Alabama Department of Revenue's new service automates extension requests, which will run for six months this year. Last year, taxpayers were required to file for a two-month and then a four-month extension separately. Also new for 2006 is the Alabama's online tax estimation service. The tax estimation system allows citizens and businesses who are required to file and pay estimated tax Federal and state tax laws require a quarterly payment of estimated taxes due from corporations, trusts, estates, non-wage employees, and wage employees with income not subject to withholding. for the 2006 fiscal year to schedule payments to occur on dates that are specified by the taxpayer. Taxpayers cannot use the online estimation application to pay a tax liability, billing notice, or assessment.
