"I am especially honored to follow in the footsteps of people who
have made lasting contributions to our department and touched the lives
of so many people," said Ms. Houston. She brings to her new role
more than 30 years of rehabilitation experience, as well as expertise in
working with people who are blind, deaf, and deaf-blind. Ms. Houston
began her career as a social worker at the Alabama Institute for Deaf
and Blind, and has worked at ADRS for the past 24 years. Prior to
accepting her new position at ADRS, Ms. Houston worked as coordinator of
