Al-Moallem Discusses Bilateral Relations with Belarusian Minister of Economy.

Damascus, (SANA) -- Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem discussed on Monday with Belarusian Minister of Economy Nikolay Zaychenko bilateral relations between the two countries and means for developing them, particularly in economic fields.During the meeting, the Belarusian Minister reviewed the agreements of memos of understanding that were prepared during his current visit to Syria, which will help bolster and develop relations between the two countries.For his part, Minister al-Moallem stressed the importance of these steps and the need to follow through on them in the near future to benefit the two countries and their friendly peoples.The meeting was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister Abdelfattah Amoura and the Belarusian Ambassador in Damascus.Main Document of the Syrian-Belarusian Committee SignedLater, Syria and Belarus signed on Monday the main document of the 5th Syrian-Belarusian Cooperation Committee meetings.The main document includes cooperation in the fields of agriculture, industry, social affairs, labor, oil, electricity, gas, local administration, environment, transportation and housing. A memo of understanding on sport cooperation between the Syrian Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Committee of Belarus was also signed. Both sides signed a plan of measures in the education sector for 2009/2010/2011 and a memo of understanding between the Syrian-Belarusian Businessmen Council. Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Hossni Lutfi said another meeting will be held in Damascus next month to follow up on discussions for establishing trade free zone, manufacturing Belarusian MAZ buses in Syria and exchanging Syrian phosphate and Belarusian diesel. He added that establishing the free trade zone is essential to increase the trade exchange between Syria and Belarus to hit USD 100 million. In turn, Economy Minister of Belarus called for more cooperation in sport, tourism, education and housing. Both sides agreed to hold the next year meetings of the Syrian-Belarusian Committee in Minsk.Tourism Ministers Sign Executive Program for Cooperation Syrian Tourism Minister Saadallah Agha al-Qalaa and Belarusia Minister of Sport and Tourism Oleg Leonidovich also signed the executive program for tourism cooperation for 2010-2011. Both sidesAacalled for boosting tourist activities and tourism promotion and investment, with al-Qalaa calling for more cooperation in the cultural and religious tourism between Syria and Belarus. He said the number of tourists increased by 10 % over the same period last year.
