Al-Marri to be sentenced this week in Illinois.

WASHINGTON, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- The sentencing hearing of former Al-Qaeda

sleeper agent Ali Al-Marri wrapped up late on Wednesday at the Federal

Courthouse in Peoria. Al-Marri defense attorneys are seeking to challenge a statement by a

psychologist who spent 1000 hours assessing him while in custody in South

Carolina and attested that Al-Marri is likely to engage in future hostile acts

against the United States. Defense attorney Larry Lustburg called Debra Sirratt's assessment as an

"extreme allegation" and urged for evidence from Sirratt about her claims. Federal Judge Michael Mihm called for a recess and asked defense attorneys

to move on and not focus on the legality of Sirratts assessment, the hearing

in the central Illinois court is expected to continue on Thursday and a

sentence is expected this week. Al-Marri, a Qatari citizen, could face 15 years in prison for conspiracy to

provide materials for Al-Qaeda while defense attorneys hope he would serve the
