Al Fayed sues over Di snaps.


Mohamed Al Fayed took a French magazine to court yesterday over snaps of son Dodi and Princess Di kissing.

Lawyers representing Al Fayed told a Paris court the snaps - published just weeks before the couple's death - were an invasion of privacy invasion of privacy n. the intrusion into the personal life of another, without just cause, which can give the person whose privacy has been invaded a right to bring a lawsuit for damages against the person or entity that intruded. .

They want pounds 41,000 damages from Paris-Match Paris-Match

Weekly pictorial magazine published in France since 1949 as the successor to L'Illustration (1843–1944). A popular news and current-events magazine aimed at the middle class, it features picture-stories on such subjects as public affairs, entertainment,
 and an apology apology [Gr.,=defense], literary work that defends, justifies, or clarifies an author's ideas or point of view. Unlike the ordinary use of the word, the literary use neither implies that wrong has been done nor expresses regret.  printed on the front page.

I recently moved to nev.from abut have been going back to ca. every 2 to 3 weeks for med.
 by photographers which led to the Paris car crash.

They said Diana Diana, in Roman religion
Diana (dīăn`ə), in Roman religion, goddess of the moon, forests, animals, and women in childbirth. She was probably originally a forest goddess and a special patroness of women.
 and Dodi were "permanently harassed" by photographers after the pictures were published.

But lawyers for Paris-Match claimed Diana had opened her private life to public scrutiny when she gave her famous Panorama interview in 1995.

Marie-Christine de Percin said: "Diana always mixed public and private. She consented to and organised images of herself throughout her life."

The lawyers also insisted Diana and Dodi were aware of the photographers' presence at the time they kissed.

The court's decision is expected on April 28.
