Al: Wasps have lost their buzz.Byline: GILMOUR ALLAN MAITLAND blasted his Alloa flops for a dismal display as the leaders dropped their first points of the season. Only a succession of missed chances from the misfiring Beath frontline and a superb second-half display by Wasps keeper David Crawford allowed the visitors to escape with a point. Cowden - who had Latvian Artur Vaiculis in goal for suspended No.1 David Hay - took the lead with a 30th-minute strike from Gareth Wardlaw. The striker took a pass from Kenny Adamson before launching a 22-yard rocket into the top corner. Alloa hit back four minutes from half-time when a Scott Agnewcorner reached Andrew Scott and his shot from 25 yards took a wicked deflection to wrong-foot Vaiculis. The second half belonged to the home team but Joe Mbu, Dene Droudge, Brian Fairbairn andAdamsonall missed golden chances with Crawford pulling off top stops from Adamson, Wardlaw and Droudge. Wasps boss Maitland said: "Myplayers' performance was awful andCowdenbeath were by far the better side. "The one plus is that in a game wherewe didn't play well we came away with a point." Beath gaffer Danny Lennon saluted his troops for the flair they showed but added: "The bottom line is that we failed to complete the job the way we wanted - we didn't get a win." |
