Akridge/Waterford Project in Falls Church Receives Zoning Approval from City Council; Sales of Condominiums at The Spectrum to Begin This Fall.

Waterford Development and Akridge have announced the acceptance of the zoning change approval by the City of Falls Church City Council for The Spectrum, a mixed-use development Mixed-use development refers to the practice of allowing more than one type of use in a building or set of buildings. In planning zone terms, this can mean some combination of residential, commercial, industrial, office, institutional, or other land uses.  in downtown Falls Church. The Spectrum will be a 191-unit residential condominium project with 30,000 square feet of Class A condominium office space, 30,000 square feet of prime retail space and an underground parking garage with 600 spaces. Upon final approval of the site plan, construction is expected to begin this fall.

The project, formerly known as The Pavilion, has been renamed The Spectrum. Just as the traditional meaning of spectrum represents the broad band of color not of the white race; - commonly meaning, esp. in the United States, of negro blood, pure or mixed.

The next step in the development process will be the approval of the site plan by the Planning Commission, which is anticipated in early summer. Already more than 300 potential purchasers have asked for information. The Sales Office is expected to open early Fall and construction of the project is anticipated to start in the fall of 2004, with delivery scheduled for the spring of 2006.
