) and Apotex Corporation (Apotex), the largest Canadian-owned pharmaceutical manufacturer, today announced the signing of an agreement for the purchase, supply, and marketing of select Ophthalmic pharmaceutical products in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  health care market.

Under the terms of the agreement, Apotex will manufacture Ophthalmic products in finished dosage forms for Akorn, who will market these products under the Akorn label. The agreement includes Ophthalmic products currently available from Apotex, as well as select products in Apotex' Ophthalmic research and development pipeline.

Apotex has been dedicated to providing world class manufacturing, biotechnology research and distribution technologies to meet the needs of the U.S. generic pharmaceuticals market.
