) today announced the appointment of Russell A. Gall as Vice President and General Manager, Decatur Operations. Mr. Gall brings twenty-five years experience in pharmaceutical operations management to his new role at Akorn.

Since 2004, Mr. Gall has served as Vice-President, Operations at Hospira, Inc., formerly a division of Abbott Laboratories, with responsibility for their Rocky Mount, NC, Buffalo, NY and Clayton, NC facilities, which employ over 2500 people. From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Gall served first as Director of Operations and later as Divisional Vice President for Abbott Laboratories, Rocky Mount Operations. From 1994 to 1999 he was Plant Manager of Abbott's McPherson, KS facility, previously owned by Sterling-Winthrop and Sanofi Inc. From 1990 to 1993 Mr. Gall served as Senior Director of Operations at Survival Technology Inc. (now Meridian Medical Inc.).

Mr. Gall holds a B.S. in Microbiology/Public Health and a B.S in Package Engineering, both from Michigan State University Michigan State University, at East Lansing; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1855. It opened in 1857 as Michigan Agricultural College, the first state agricultural college. .
