Akorn, Inc. Launches Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine.

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. -- Akorn, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKRX) today announced the launch of Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine to customers in the United States. These vaccine shipments effectively begin Akorn's exclusive three year Tetanus Diphtheria distribution agreement with Massachusetts Biologic Laboratories.

Douglas R. Pinnell, Akorn's Vice President of Vaccine Sales stated, "We are excited by the product launch of Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine. The current annual market for Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine is approximately $230 million. As of today, we have hired seven vaccine sales representatives and intend to build our sales infrastructure to a total of 25 representatives. These representatives will augment the efforts of our vaccine distribution partners and their respective sales teams."

Arthur S. Przybyl, Akorn's President and Chief Executive Officer stated, "Today, we realized initial sales from the launch of our first vaccine, multi dose Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine. We look forward to launching the single dose preservative free Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine in the first quarter 2008. Our revenue expectation for Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine in 2008 is approximately $65 million."
