) today announced that its common stock listing application for the Nasdaq Global Market (Nasdaq) has been approved. Akorn expects to begin trading on the Nasdaq on or about February 7, 2007. Akorn will trade on the Nasdaq Global Market under the new symbol "AKRX". Until then, Akorn's common stock will continue trading on the American Stock Exchange American Stock Exchange (AMEX)

Stock exchange in the U.S. Originally known as “the Curb,” it began as an outdoor marketplace in New York City c. 1850. It moved indoors to its present location in the Wall Street area in 1921.
 under the current symbol "AKN".
