Publisher 2.0 overcomes device and carrier fragmentation issues, and works with the inherent bandwidth constraints of mobile devices. In effect, it generates a Postscript-like description language that intelligently uses bandwidth and balances client/server load to maximize rich media application performance.

"DWMC is an industry leading, feet-on-the-street company that has strong ties to both the mobile market and the publishing industry," said B. McKinley Hackett III, vice president of sales for Akira. "They were one of the first early adopters and advocates for Postscript PDF (Portable Document Format) The de facto standard for document publishing from Adobe. On the Web, there are countless brochures, data sheets, white papers and technical manuals in the PDF format.  technology in the mid-90s for operators and carriers such as Vodafone and others. The Publisher 2.0 platform today is to phones what Adobe's Postscript PDF format was 15 years ago to print. So, this is a perfect fit for DWMC."

"3GSM Barcelona is an excellent launching pad for Akira's technology and the Publisher 2.0 platform," said Stephen Shepherd, principal, DWMC Ltd. "The mobile market for content is exploding with Java MIDP 2.0 phones, and both content owners and distributors have been restlessly waiting for a solution that reduces fragmentation and addresses the bandwidth constraints of mobility."

Current projects for DWMC include the official Mobile Event Guide for 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona as a consultant to Roundpoint Ltd. One of the first .mobi sites, it provides an exhibitor guide, event schedule, news, exhibition map, and a city guide. Akira will be featured in the Guide, along with Akira mobile demo downloads. Representatives from both DWMC and Akira will be available at the 3GSM World Congress Conference and Exhibition, Barcelona, Spain, Feb. 13-16, 2006, in Hall 4, Hospitality Suite HS8.18.
