Aker Philadelphia Shipyard Delivers Sixth Product Tanker to American Shipping Company.


Delivery is the tenth in the ten years since the shipyard's founding

) today. The vessel will leave the yard under the operation of OSG OSG Open Scene Graph

 America and will be used to transport petroleum products for Tesoro. This product tanker is the first of four vessels planned to be utilized by Tesoro.

A traditional naming ceremony was held at the shipyard and attended by representatives from Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, American Shipping Company, OSG and Tesoro. The ship's sponsor, Mrs. Marcia Lewis, blessed the ship and all who will sail on her before officially naming her the Overseas Boston.

An additional three ships in the series of 12 tankers for American Shipping Company are under construction at the yard.
