BB: AKNS), a leading designer and installer of solar power systems announced that is has opened a new office in Manteca, California Manteca is a city in San Joaquin County, California, USA. As of November 2005, the city population was approximately 61,927 residents. Manteca was well-known in Northern California as the location of The Manteca Waterslides. .

This is the third new office the company has opened this year to accommodate the rapidly growing demand for solar power from both residential and commercial customers. Akeena now has five offices serving California and one in the Northeast.

"Manteca is strategically located, linking the San Francisco Bay Area “Bay Area” redirects here. For other uses, see Bay Area (disambiguation).

The San Francisco Bay Area, colloquially known as the Bay Area or The Bay
to California's Central Valley. The hot climate combined with high energy prices and the availability of new homes makes Manteca an ideal place for solar power," said Barry Cinnamon, Chief Executive Officer of Akeena Solar.

The California Solar Initiative The California Solar Initiative program pays incentives to solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the three California Investor-Owned Utilities service territories.

The program was authorized by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and by the Senate Bill 1 (SB 1):
makes solar power systems an attractive option for commercial and residential buildings, thus making California the largest solar power market in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . Support for solar power continues to grow as Americans are becoming more concerned about their sources of energy and more aware of environmentally friendly Environmentally friendly, also referred to as nature friendly, is a term used to refer to goods and services considered to inflict minimal harm on the environment.[1]  alternatives. Pending federal legislation is likely to drive further growth. The proposed Securing America's Energy Independence Act proposes increasing Federal tax credits to $3,000 per kilowatt kilowatt: see watt. . For example, under the proposed Act, a typical five kilowatt residential system would now experience a tax credit increase from $2,000 to $15,000, thereby reducing payback from 10 years to five years. Akeena believes should this Act be passed into law, it would create a significant increase in demand for solar power systems.

Cinnamon continued, "We believe we have built a strong team at Akeena and are expanding our footprint to serve the growth that we anticipate in 2007. Opening new offices effectively is a challenging task, and we are very happy with the performance of the Fresno, Orange County and Bakersfield offices that we have opened over the last nine months."
