In less than a year, the two companies have achieved significant acceptance of their joint streaming offering by the public broadcasting public broadcasting: see broadcasting.  community, yielding more than 50 customers in that sector.

Public Interactive offers both public radio and public television stations a cost-effective range of private labeled, station-branded, Web-based services for a station's online/on-air community. Consistently ranked among the top five Arbitron(R) listings of audio network aggregators, Public Interactive began offering Akamai's streaming services to its network of station affiliates in April 2001. The Akamai and Public Interactive alliance combines Public Interactive's application solutions and Akamai's streaming media and audience measurement services for the delivery of live and on-demand audio and video public broadcasting programs. Public Interactive will expand its usage of Akamai's streaming services while supporting a rapidly growing base of both Internet radio Listening to audio broadcasts via the Internet. There are more than 4,000 broadcasts available on the Internet that can be streamed and played by a software media player in the computer or in a stand-alone Internet radio with the software built in.  listeners and an emerging online video base as well.
