Akamai Announces Management Changes.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2001

Akamai Technologies, Inc., the leading Content Delivery Service Provider (CDSP (Content Delivery Service Provider) A global network that provides faster delivery of Web pages over the Internet. Using servers stationed around the world with duplicate content, the server closest to the user's request is the one that responds. ), today reported changes to its senior management team.

Over the past three months, several additions have been made to strengthen Akamai's senior management organization. As previously announced, Chris Schoettle, formerly President of Lucent's Broadband Access Business Unit, joined Akamai as Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

. In addition, Michael Campbell joined Akamai as Vice President, Direct Sales. Originally offering e-mail and news, it became a full Internet service organization providing dial-up and leased line accounts as well as archive space for . Michael Quinn joined Akamai as General Manager, Enterprise Sales. Most recently, Quinn was Vice President, Global Sales Engineering, at UUNET.

Earl Galleher, Executive Vice President, is departing. According to Akamai Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  George Conrades, "Earl was instrumental in building the sales engine that took us from pre-revenue in early 1999 to nearly $90 million in 2000, our first full year of commercial operation. In 2000, Earl became our Executive Vice President to streamline operations in areas such as sales, international expansion, service delivery and product management. With Earl leaving to pursue other interests, we have initiated a search for a replacement with experience in the enterprise market.
