Ajinomoto Develops World's First Health Check Method Based on Blood Amino Acid Concentrations.


Tokyo, Japan, Oct 17, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Ajinomoto has developed a new method for examining a person's health conditions. The Amino Index method uses a small amount of a blood sample from the subject to statistically analyze the combinations of amino acids amino acid (əmē`nō), any one of a class of simple organic compounds containing carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and in certain cases sulfur. These compounds are the building blocks of proteins. , create the index of amino acid concentrations and asess the subject's health conditions.

Specifically, the company has succeeded in screening normal and pathological (diabetes) animal models using Amino Index.

The company plans to make a presentation on Amino Index at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Inherited Metabolic Diseases metabolic disease,
n a disorder that causes dysfunction of the metabolic action of the body, resulting in loss of control of homeostasis.

The presentation will cover the feasibility of Amino Index in the diagnosis of hereditary diseases.
