Airtouch Cellular Venture in Germany Achieves Two Million Customers.

So far this year, Mannesmann Mobilfunk GmbH (MMO See MMOG. ) has added 550,000 new subscribers to its network.

AirTouch currently owns a 34.5 percent interest in MMO, a joint venture that holds the second GSM cellular license in Germany. Mannesmann Mobilfunk's other shareholder is Mannesmann AG, a German industrial engineering and steel manufacturer.

Mannesmann Mobilfunk's network, known as D2, introduced service in June 1992 and was the world's first commercial cellular system to operate on the GSM standard. One of the largest networks in the world, D2 currently has more than 3000 cell sites and covers approximately 93% of united Germany's land and 97% of its population.
