Airport talk. (Politics).

It worked -- after a fashion -- for charter reform, so why not have two committees to assess the community impact of L.A. Mayor James Hahn's $10 billion makeover plan for LAX?

Two committees -- one formed by Hahn and the other by Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski Cindy Miscikowski represented the 11th District on the Los Angeles City Council for two full terms from 1997 through 2005. Previously, she was an aide to Councilman Marvin Braude and the Executive Director of the Skitball Cultural Center in its beginning stages.  (who represents the airport area) -- met for the first time last month.

Both were formed after concerns emerged last fall that too much of the planning for Hahn's LAX proposal was taking place behind closed doors. The key concern was -- and remains -- Hahn's plan to put the airport's main parking facility on a large chunk of the Manchester Square Manchester Square is an 18th century garden square in the Marylebone area in London, England, a short distance north of Oxford Street. Miscikowski followed with the formation of the Airport Working Group, a committee that will have 10 to 15 representatives from local businesses, homeowner groups and other interested citizens. The group's task, according to according to

Hahn, too, formed a committee to deal with rising concerns of residents over the Manchester Square parking center. With two committees of local residents from a relatively small area, it should come as a no surprise that at least two local residents serve on both committees.
