Airport in Liverpool was set to go ahead today following the rejection of a deal aimed at ending a row over jobs.

The GMB GMB (in Britain) General, Municipal and Boilermakers (Trade Union)  said its members employed by Servisair were to walk out from 4am in an indefinite stoppage in protest at plans to cut jobs.

Talks were held earlier this week to resolve a row over plans to cut 27 jobs.

The GMB said baggage handlers and other ground staff at the airport will now go ahead with the strike.

Eddie Parker of the GMB said union members had overwhelmingly rejected proposals tabled earlier this week.
