Airport strike will go ahead.A STRIKE by workers at John Lennon Noun 1. John Lennon - English rock star and guitarist and songwriter who with Paul McCartney wrote most of the music for the Beatles (1940-1980) Lennon Airport in Liverpool will go ahead today after last-ditch talks failed to resolve a row over jobs last night. Up to 150 members of the GMB GMB (in Britain) General, Municipal and Boilermakers (Trade Union) Union will launch an indefinite walkout from early today in a row over the plans to make 23 workers compulsorily redundant. Talks between the union and ground services firm ServiSair had failed to break the deadlock last night. The union has been seeking assurances that no worker would face compulsory redundancy under the company's cost-cutting plans. The airport said it had been assured that it would be "business as usual" despite the industrial action going ahead. |
