Airports Council International has named Seoul's Incheon airport as the best worldwide, with Singapore and Hong Kong sharing second and Kuala Lumpur rated third. Best regionally were Halifax, Incheon again, Brussels and Copenhagen and Dubai. Night Flights' opponents received a boost from the House of Lords as peers rejected government calls to raise the number of 'antisocial' movements at London's busiest airports. Airports Council International added its voice yesterday to the mounting opposition to French President Jacques Chirac's proposal. "This tax simply does not make sense. The aviation industry is one of the foremost contributors to economic growth in developing nations. Additional taxes will only serve to dampen the strong traffic growth that was witnessed in Africa in 2005," ACI DG Robert Aaronson said at a conference in the United Arab Emirates. ACI said it is "extremely concerned" over the growing number of levies imposed on the air transport industry, "in particular taxes imposed solely on air transport and used for non aviation purposes." The number of seats at Louis Armstrong airport this month is 46% of the year-ago total, according to an analysis by USA Today. Traffic jumps at New England regional airports. More New England travelers are flying out of regional airports because of convenience and low fares, the Boston Globe reports. Barco in cooperation with NCS Group was selected by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore to "optimize the arrival management at Changi Airport." Logan's impact to area economy put at $7.6b. Study by Massport, chamber also says it supports 82,000 jobs. In many cities where new airports have been built 20 miles outside downtown, such as Dallas and Denver, their economic impact is impossible to miss, as office buildings, restaurants, and rent-a-car shops have sprung up to serve airport traffic. Dallas/Fort Worth Airport

Officials may include Texas industrial airport in airport authority. The mayors of Dallas and Fort Worth agree that lawmakers should create a regional airport authority to include Dallas Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Zurich Airport was forced to cancel 72 flights Saturday owing to heavy snowfall. One day later it was Munich's turn as that airport reported 90 cancellations while 120 flights were delayed an average of 60 min.
