 ready for Thanksgiving crush. Airlines expect a large jump in the number of people who will fly during the Thanksgiving holidays this year. "We're ready to go," James May, president of the Air Transport Association, said Thursday. "We know we've got 25 million people coming." To accommodate the Thanksgiving crush, the TSA is opening security checkpoints earlier and fully staffing them. Nov 17, 2006

TSA plans events to educate public on security rules. TSA has planned 70 public events around the U.S. in the days leading up to Thanksgiving to inform fliers about the latest security rules. "We still see a large number of [banned] items at the checkpoint, and while every occurrence may only take a few minutes, when tens of thousands of people are passing through the checkpoint, that can have a significant cumulative effect," says Darrin Kayser, a TSA spokesman.
