Finnair, Arlanda Airport

Lufthansa, London City Airport London City Airport (IATA: LCY, ICAO: EGLC) is a single-runway airport, intended for use by STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) airliners, and principally serving the financial districts of London. This airport could also be considered a STOLport.  

Lufthansa is to reintroduce flights between London City Airport and the German capital Berlin. However, this time the twice daily service will operate to Tegel, the current main international airport, and not the historic city center Tempelhof landing area. The new Lufthansa operation will start on 14 January, 2008, operated by Lufthansa Regional partner, Eurowings, flying a BAe 146-200 four-engined jet. Flight time is 1h40min with a two-class cabin layout. London City was first linked to Berlin in 1992, a short-lived service by German operator Conti-Flug to Tempelhof, which lasted until the middle of the Farnborough Air Show The Farnborough International Airshow is a seven-day international trade fair for the aerospace business which is held biennially in England. The airshow is organised by Farnborough International Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of British aerospace industry's body the Society  of September 1994, when the carrier went bust. Ryanair, Milan

Ryanair management is set to discuss the plan with executives from Milan airports operator SEA on Friday in Dublin. The Dublin-based airline said it was ready to fill the gaps that Alitalia might abandon, though Alessia Viviani, Ryanair's head of marketing in Italy, said it was too early to say whether it would try to buy slots from Alitalia. State-controlled Alitalia announced a survival plan in August that included scaling back its presence at Malpensa. Alitalia has hubs at Malpensa and Rome's Fiumicino. Sep 13, 2007

Ryanair, Milan

Ryanair said on Sept 13 it was ready to launch 80 routes from two Milan airports, stepping in as struggling Alitalia cuts back in Italy's industrial heartland. Europe's biggest low-cost carrier is prepared to use an additional 12 Boeing 737 at Milan's Malpensa airport and another six at Serio airport in Bergamo, company spokesman Peter Sherrard told a news conference. The expansion would be in reaction to Alitalia's plans to nearly halve its 340 daily flights from Malpensa, Sherrard said. At Malpensa, Ryanair would launch 50 European flights and 10 to Italian destinations, he said. Sep 13, 2007

Tel Aviv, Czech Airlines

Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport firefighters and hazardous material teams went into action after a toxic substance spilled while being loaded onto a plane. Zeev Sarig, director of operations at Ben-Gurion, outside Tel Aviv, described the substance as a fertilizer ingredient bound for the Czech Republic. An Israeli police spokesman said that though containment efforts were still under way, elsewhere at Ben-Gurion work was continuing as usual. The spill was being treated as an accident, police said. Army Radio said three porters were hospitalized but described their condition as satisfactory. Israeli media described the plane affected by the spill as belonging to Czech Airlines. Sep 11, 2007
