Airline denies buying stake.


KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait's Wataniya Airways, which is yet to start operations, yesterday denied a newspaper report that it was interested in buying a stake in loss-making Kuwait Airways Kuwait Airways (Arabic: الخطوط الجوية الكويتية) is the national airline of Kuwait, based in Kuwait City and wholly owned by the Kuwaiti Government.  Corporation (KAC).

"The story ... is completely untrue," the firm said, adding that its current focus was on developing its own business.

The carrier said it plans to start operations in January to become the third airline in the Gulf state, and will list its shares on the Kuwait bourse bourse (brs), term applied to a European stock exchange. The first international bourse was established in Antwerp in the 16th cent.  by year end.
