Aer Lingus Aer Lingus is Ireland's national airline. Based in Dublin, it operates 41 Airbus aircraft serving Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East. The airline is 28% owned by the Irish government; it was floated on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges on 2 October 2006,

Air Baltic

Air Baltic will operate a weekly 737 Riga-Dubai flight from Dec. 26 to Mar. 24, its first long-haul route. The carrier also signed a cooperation agreement with SN Brussels to give Latvian passengers access to the Belgian airline's 14-city African network via Brussels. Dec 7, 2006

BMED said it is getting a better-than-expected response from passengers for new A320/A321 services from London Heathrow to the West African West Africa

Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  David Richardson said this week at the British Embassy in Washington. He said Heathrow-West Africa bookings for December and January are "more than we thought. We're very positive [about the service]." Dec 7, 2006

BMED British Mediterranean Airways

BMED, formerly known as British Mediterranean Airways, began operations in 1994 and became a British Airways franchise partner in 1999. Its fleet operates in BA livery and comprises eight A320s/A321s serving 16 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa from Heathrow. Richardson said the airline takes advantage of underserved markets that other carriers may view as unappealing, often flying to areas that can be described as "challenging destinations" such as Syria and Lebanon or Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in Central Asia. It always hires local people to work at each airport because "it gives us a bit of an edge. We found a lot of places we fly to have helped the tourist trade. We see ourselves as part of the development of a local economy." Dec 7, 2006

Lufthansa

Lufthansa inaugurated its thrice-weekly Frankfurt-Kolkata service Friday, making the West Bengal capital its sixth destination in India. Lufthansa Passenger Airlines Executive VP-Marketing and Sales Thierry Antinori said about the carrier's strategy for the subcontinent. LH generates 20% of its [euro]2.5 billion ($3.33 billion) annual passenger turnover in the Asia/Pacific market and operates 45 weekly flights to India (38 from FRA Fra: see Angelico, Fra; Bartolommeo di Pagholo del Fattorino, Fra; Fra Filippo Lippi under Lippi.  and seven from Munich) with 20,000 total seats. Lufthansa

Lufthansa said Indian expansion must go hand-in-hand with LH's US network because traffic between India and North America plays a key role for the carrier. "For many Indian passengers, Frankfurt has become a US hub. We offer services to 16 US destinations" from FRA. The airline will continue its strategic partnership with Air India, with which it operates 402 weekly codeshare flights between India and Germany and onward to the US. Dec 5, 2006

SN Brussels Airlines SN Brussels Airlines (SNBA) was a former national airline of Belgium, which mainly operated from Brussels Airport. SNBA was the trading name of the Belgian airline Delta Air Transport. SNBA was a full-service airline, connecting Brussels with the rest of Europe.  

SN Brussels Airlines will add a fifth daily frequency on its Brussels-Berlin Tempelhof route as it anticipates increased demand owing to Germany's January ascendancy to the EU presidency. Partner Virgin Express continues its daily service to Berlin Schoenefeld. Dec 4, 2006

Swiss International

Swiss International Air Lines Swiss International Air Lines (short: Swiss) is the principal airline of Switzerland operating scheduled services in Europe and to North America, South America, Africa and Asia. Its main hub is Zurich Kloten Airport (ZRH).  yesterday added its 11th A330, a dash 200, to its fleet. Dec 7, 2006

Virgin Atlantic Airways

Virgin Atlantic Airways will launch a daily London Heathrow-Chicago O'Hare service on April 23 and a second daily LHR-Washington Dulles flight from April 24.
