Austrian Airlines Austrian Airlines AG is the flag carrier airline of Austria, headquartered in Vienna. It operates scheduled sevices to over 130 destinations. Its main base is Vienna International Airport, with a hub at Innsbruck Airport.[1] In 2006 Austrian had 10 million passengers.  

Austrian Airlines will launch twice-weekly Vienna-Erbil flights on Dec. 11, nine months after it postponed the service. It said the city in the Kurdistan region now is secure. It will be the first European carrier to operate to Iraq and will use A319s. Meanwhile, it has ceased its Vienna-Pecs service. Nov 13, 2006

British unveils [pounds sterling]100 million Club World upgrade; Walsh touts Flybe deal. British Airways yesterday moved to raise the premium-service bar with the rollout of a [pounds sterling]100 million ($191.1 million) overhaul to its Club World business class cabin featuring "next generation" lie-flat beds, multiple channel video/on demand IFE Ife (ē`fā), city (1991 est. pop. 262,000), SW Nigeria. Located in a farm region, the city is an important center for marketing and shipping cacao. According to tradition, Ife is the oldest Yoruba town (founded c.1300).  and in-seat laptop storage bins and hookups. Nov 14, 2006

Czech Airlines

Czech Airlines, citing "the recent fall in oil prices," reduced its fuel surcharge on passenger tickets by $2 on European routes to $23 and by $7 on long-haul flights to North America to $60. Nov 14, 2006

Fons Eignarhaldsfelag, Iceland Express, Astraeus

Fons Eignarhaldsfelag investment firm of Iceland, which owns Iceland Express, has acquired a 51% stake in the UK's Astraeus for [pounds sterling]5 million. Astraeus operates four 757s and two 737-700s and is based at London Gatwick and Manchester International. Its board will be restructured, with a supervisory board Supervisory board

 comprising two representatives from Fons, one from Astraeus management and one from minority shareholder Aberdeen Asset Management Aberdeen Asset Management plc is an international investment management group, managing assets for both institutions and private individuals from offices around the world. It is based in Aberdeen, Scotland and listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: ADN). . Fons said Astraeus's revenue for the fiscal year ended Oct. 31 is "expected to exceed" [pounds sterling]100 million. Nov 16, 2006

LOT Polish Airlines LOT Polish Airlines (Polskie Linie Lotnicze LOT, short name PLL LOT) is the national airline/flag carrier of Poland, based in Warsaw. It operates scheduled passenger and cargo services. Domestic services link Warsaw with ten cities.  

LOT Polish Airlines has a new chairman. Tomasz Dembski has replaced Krzysztof Kapis, who was asked to leave by the board, according to PAP. No further details were available. Kapis, former head of the Polish civil aviation authority Civil Aviation Authority civil (Brit) nBehörde f für Zivilluftfahrt , was named chairman in March. Nov 16, 2006

SAS Sweden will start service from Stockholm Arlanda to Munich (five-times-daily from Feb. 12), Palma de Mallorca Palma is the major city and port on the island of Mallorca and capital city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It is situated on the south coast of the island on the Bay of Palma.  (weekly from March 31), Malaga (thrice-weekly from April 28), Glasgow (twice-weekly from April 16) and Reykjavik on April 27. Swiss International

Swiss International launched its new collaboration on November 15 by flying the Alinghi team to their Dubai training base for the 2006-07 winter season. With daily Swiss service to and from the United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates, federation of sheikhdoms (2005 est. pop. 2,563,000), c.30,000 sq mi (77,700 sq km), SE Arabia, on the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. , the team can enjoy comfortable and convenient connections to their training base as they prepare for next year's America's Cup. Swiss International

Swiss International Air Lines Swiss International Air Lines (short: Swiss) is the principal airline of Switzerland operating scheduled services in Europe and to North America, South America, Africa and Asia. Its main hub is Zurich Kloten Airport (ZRH).  will continue its long-haul expansion with the addition of three A340-300s in the next two years. It took two ex-Sabena A330-200s last month, one of which entered service yesterday with the other set to begin flying in mid-December. By summer 2008 it will operate 23 long-haul aircraft. Its fleet expansion, which includes two A321s and one A320, will create 550 new jobs. The airline said it intends to offer daily frequencies to as many long-haul destinations as possible. One A340, acquired from Air Canada, will be used to increase service on existing routes. The other two, acquired from Austrian Airlines, will be used to expand its network. Nov 15, 2006

Virgin Galactic

Virgin Galactic's plans take shape. Virgin Galactic plans to eventually operate point-to-point rocket travel around the world and to space hotels. The company, led by aerospace designer Burt Rutan, is building a spaceliner in Mojave, Calif. Its business plan calls for 50,000 people to visit space over a 10-year period. Nov 13, 2006
