Air Luxor, the somewhat oddly named Portuguese airline, has been sold by the Mirpuri Group to Longstock Financial, after completion of negotiations and due diligence Research; analysis; your homework. This term has caught on in all industries, because it sounds so "wired." Who would want to do analysis or research when they can do due diligence. See wired. . Longstock represents the investments in Portugal of a group of Portuguese and Canadian financiers in the tourism and industrial manufacturing businesses. The airline, which at one time operated scheduled services between Gatwick and Lisbon, has a small fleet of Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft and operates scheduled flights to Sao Tome and Guinea Bissau to Lisbon as well as charter services. http://www.airluxor.com Jul 8, 2006

Iberia

Iberia passengers should check carefully during this week regarding their pre-booked flights. The airline plans to cancel more than 200 flights per day (Iberia's figure - not a press exaggeration) as talks aimed at avoiding a strike called by the carrier's pilots have collapsed. The failure in industrial relations has been caused by plans for the airline to invest in Catair, a new low-cost carrier to be based in Barcelona, Spain's second-largest city. The company says that it has guaranteed that no pilots with will lose their jobs as a consequence of its 20% investment in the new airline, which will operate chiefly on point-to-point routes where Iberia cannot compete because of its high costs. http://www.iberia.com Jul 8, 2006

Monarch, which claims to be Britain's oldest airline operating under its original name, is to expand its Luton scheduled operations. From May 2007 the airline is to fly to Ibiza with up to five flights per week, Almeria, four flights per week whilst Palma Palma or Palma de Mallorca (päl`mä thā mälyôr`kä), city (1990 pop. 325,120), capital of Majorca island and of Baleares prov., Spain, on the Bay of Palma.  goes from a single weekly rotation to nine flights. As managing director Tim Jeans put it at a press conference last week, Monarch likes to think of itself "as a cut above" other low cost airlines in terms of its cabin service and what it has on offer. Well over 60% of Monarch passengers are thought to be overseas home owners, or travelers to properties abroad. With many clients traveling as much as six or seven times per year the airline's Vantage Club, with its free entry and many benefits, is proving very popular. Monarch Scheduled expects to handle 3m passengers this year, a 20% increase over 2005. Monarch currently has a fleet of seven Boeing 757, a single 767, a pair of Airbus A330, 13 Airbus A320 series and four A300. According to Mr. Jeans by 2009 the airline will be looking towards more standardization of the fleet and the replacement of the A300s. Tim Jeans does a good impersonation Impersonation
