Etihad Airways, which introduced operations in November 2003, is very quickly establishing itself as a top quality airline. The Abu Dhabi based carrier has now taken delivery of the first of its new custom-configured Airbus 340-500 equipped with, what it terms, are revolutionary Diamond (first class) seats. The initial aircraft will be used on the Heathrow route and offers three zones, Diamond, Pearl (business) and Coral (economy). The Diamond seat is claimed to set new industry benchmarks, one of the most innovative features being the ability to rotate 180 degrees, enabling guests to hold meetings, dine and converse with one another. Each seat also features a 23" personal LCD video screen. Passengers can conduct meetings or travel in total seclusion. The whole aircraft is equipped with mood lighting, which adjusts subtly to the time of day benefiting all in the cabin. http://www.etihiadairways.com Jul 8, 2006
