Smart Indicating Purifiers help purify the gas stream to the resonator and provide early warning of impurities to help prevent gas stream contamination. Gas stream purity helps maintain the laser beam quality and efficiency. If the gas contains contaminants, or if contaminants enter the gas stream during cylinder change out, the purifier media begins to turn color. The new line of purifiers joins the Smart Indicating Regulators SIR(TM) line of products, which were introduced in February 2004 with Smart Indicators built into the regulators.

"Because gas purity is so critical to sustaining the quality of the laser beam and its efficiency, Airgas is proud to introduce this new technology that helps provide precision, reliability and performance," said Frank Kandl, national technical manager of specialty gas equipment.

The line of Smart Indicating Purifiers were designed especially for the laser market to help extend the life of resonator optics and electrodes while keeping laser beam power at maximum capacity. When the purifier is depleted de·plete

, the cartridge is easily changed with a patented quick-change base, allowing the user to change the purifier without interrupting gas flow.

In addition to the Smart Indicating Purifier, Airgas is displaying at FABTECH its high purity laser gases and a range of assist gas supply modes, including high-pressure cylinders, liquid cylinders, MicroBulk and bulk tanks.

"Airgas has the right products, the right expertise and the right locations to serve laser cutters," said William Cording, market development manager for laser cutting and production welding. "From local shops to Fortune 500 manufacturing operations Manufacturing operations concern the operation of a facility, as opposed to maintenance, supply and distribution, health, and safety, emergency response, human resources, security, information technology and other infrastructural support organizations. , our laser customers rely on Airgas for the gases, equipment and service to keep them cutting smoothly."
