) extends its sympathy to the family of John Musselman, who had served as division president and regional company president during nearly 20 years with Airgas. Mr. Musselman died on Wednesday, February 26, 2002 in his home in Salem, NH.

"John, or Muss as he was known to us, was a great friend and colleague, and his passing is a great loss to the Airgas family," said Airgas Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Peter McCausland.

"All of us were touched by the tenacity with which Muss battled leukemia in the last year. It was clear he was not one to go out without a fight," added McCausland. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Carol, and son, Jake, in their time of sorrow."

A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Musselman joined Airgas in its early years after a career with Air Products and Chemicals. During is tenure, he served as company president of Airgas Northeast, division president of Airgas-East, and regional company president of Airgas Great Lakes Great Lakes, group of five freshwater lakes, central North America, creating a natural border between the United States and Canada and forming the largest body of freshwater in the world, with a combined surface area of c.95,000 sq mi (246,050 sq km). . "Muss joined Airgas in our formative years and has been an important contributor to the Airgas culture and our industry leadership position," added McCausland.
