Airgain's Patented Switched-Beam Technology Chosen for Carrier-Class Wi-fi Devices

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- To improve in-home wireless connectivity in the next generation of residential Wi-fi gateways, device manufacturers are turning to a new switched-beam, smart antenna technology from Airgain Inc., a pioneer in innovative embedded antenna designs and software to improve wireless connectivity.

Airgain's MaxBeam75 antenna design with patented SmartGain[TM] beam-switching technology is an internal smart antenna that triples the signal strength and doubles the coverage over external omni-directional antennas. Until now, such dipole antennas have been the industry standard, broadcasting their signals constantly in all directions, wasting energy, congesting the unlicensed spectrum and being susceptible to interference from such everyday sources as microwave ovens, cordless phones and neighboring Wi-fi networks.
