Airespace Announces Japanese Subsidiary to Accelerate Growth of Wireless LANs in Japan; Appoints Cisco Veteran Hidesuke Kawata as Representative Director.

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2004

Airespace, Inc., announced today the opening of its newest office in Tokyo, Japan, Airespace K.K., which will serve as headquarters for sales and support of the Airespace Wireless Enterprise Platform throughout the country.

Hidesuke Kawata, an industry veteran with extensive management experience at Cisco, Sun, DEC and other leading networking companies, joins Airespace as Representative Director for Japanese operations. Kawata will handle strategic sales and support activities throughout the country in addition to managing customers through local partners, including NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

Hidesuke Kawata has over 20 years of experience selling networking equipment to Japanese enterprises. Prior to joining Airespace, he was country manager and president of Atrica Japan K.K, where he delivered Optical Ethernet Systems to local service providers. Before joining Atrica Japan K.K., Kawata led Cisco's service provider business in Japan, where he grew Cisco's positioning in the IP, ATM and frame relay A high-speed packet switching protocol used in wide area networks (WANs).
