Boeing, Rolls-Royce

This allows Rolls-Royce to integrate support of these components into TotalCare to provide a more complete solution for the Trent 1000. More than 500 Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines have been ordered for the Boeing 787, and 80 percent of all Trent customers since 2001 have selected TotalCare services. Aug 16, 2007

Honeywell, Sensis

Honeywell, Sensis demonstrate new conflict alert technology. New technology developed by Honeywell Aerospace and Sensis will transmit conflict alerts provided to air traffic controllers to cockpits of affected aircraft almost simultaneously. Executives say they are demonstrating the technology but have not launched a new product. The technology will alert pilots to conflicts with other planes and ground vehicles at airports. Lufthansa Technik signed a 12-year Total Component Support contract with LAN Airlines covering up to 129 A320s and up to eight A340s. The agreement expands a TCS (Transportation Control System) A widely used integrated information system for railroad transportation developed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Pratt & Whitney

Pratt & Whitney said it has begun testing the fan drive gear system on its Geared Turbofan engine at its new Middletown, Conn., testing facility. Testing will continue for 18 months. Flight testing is scheduled for next year with entry into service possible for 2012. Aug 16, 2007
