Aerolineas Argentinas, Airbus, Boeing

Aerolineas Argentinas is taking delivery of the second of seven Boeing 737-500s this month. Remaining aircraft will arrive in July, September, October (two) and November. The carrier said it also will take an Airbus

Embraer

London City's future appears assured with news from the Paris Air Show that the Embraer 170 has been certificated for the steep approached pattern required at the airport. Aircraft normally approach an airport at an angle of 3 degrees, but due to London City's closeness to built-up area's it was agreed when the airport was approved in 1986 that a 5 degree glidescope be used in order to keep noise to a minimum. Embraer said it is expanding its partnership with CAE (1) (Computer-Aided Engineering) Software that analyzes designs which have been created in the computer or that have been created elsewhere and entered into the computer.  to include initial and recurrent pilot training on both the E-170 and E-190 as well as on the Lineage 1000. Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Embraer

Brazilian planemaker Embraer said it had signed a firm order with Lufthansa for 30 of its 190 model regional airliner A regional airliner is a small airliner designed to fly between 35 and 100 passengers from point to point, generally within one country. This class of airliner are typically flown by the regional airline divisions of the larger international airlines, although they perform cargo  and a deal with Japan Airlines for 10 of the smaller 170 model. Japan Airlines also took options on five more 170s, Embraer announced at the Paris air show. The deals are worth over USD$1 billion at list prices and could top USD$3 billion if all options and purchase rights are exercised, Embraer said in a news release. These aircraft are distinguishable from other airplanes because of their significance in filling the short-hop role in the hub and spoke model of passenger and cargo distribution.

TAM, Boeing

TAM converted purchase rights for four Boeing 777-300ERs into firm orders. It announced the initial order for four firm aircraft and four purchase rights last fall. TAM said its share of the international market among Brazilian carriers last month was 72.4% and it intends to grow "by increasing flights to countries where it already operates in Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. , the US and Europe as well as launching other potential destinations to attract leisure and business passengers." TAME, Embraer

TAME of Ecuador converted two Embraer E-190 options. The airline operates two E-170s and a single E-190. The new aircraft will be delivered by year end. "This decision is based on the success achieved by operating this type of airplane, which was first acquired in 2006, that has boosted passenger demand," TAME President Fernando Martinez de la Vega de la Vega is a common surname in the Spanish language meaning "of the plain" and may refer to: People
