Airbus, Air Caraibes

Air Caraibes of Guadeloupe signed a contract for the purchase of an A330-300 for use on services to Paris. Delivery is scheduled for November 2008. The carrier operates two A330-200s and one dash 300. The new aircraft will seat 372 and replace a leased dash 200. Jul 20, 2006

Boeing, Aviation Capital

Aviation Capital Group announced that it has acquired three 737-700s and three 737-800s from AeroMexico that it will lease back to that carrier. It will begin taking delivery of the aircraft, originally ordered by AeroMexico, later this year. Jul 18, 2006

Caribbean Star Airlines Caribbean Star Airlines is an airline based in Antigua and Barbuda. It operates scheduled passenger services in conjunction with Leeward Islands Air Transport (LIAT) to destinations in the eastern Caribbean. One piece of news that largely went unnoticed at Farnborough was the announcement by Mauricio Botelho, at London's Inner Temple of all places, that he is stepping down from the day-to-day running of Embraer next spring. Embraer

Embraer 190/195 aircraft have demonstrated a 3% better fuel burn than previously expected, the company said here. Based on some 3,000 flight hr. per year, with fuel at $2 a gallon a 190/195 operator will save about $1 million per aircraft over 20 years of operation. With more than 20 of the type now in service, Embraer has been able to confirm fuel burn more accurately. Related aircraft manuals will be revised to reflect the change. Jul 20, 2006

Embraer announced it is pursuing certification for its 190 for steep approach approval that will allow the aircraft to operate at London City Airport London City Airport (IATA: LCY, ICAO: EGLC) is a single-runway airport, intended for use by STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) airliners, and principally serving the financial districts of London.
