Airbee Opens R&D Facility in India.

ROCKVILLE, Md. & CHENNAI, India -- Airbee Wireless, Inc. (OTC: ABEW), an innovator of intelligent software for wireless voice, data and video communications, today announced the opening of the company's expanded development center in Chennai, India. Airbee has committed more than $1 million to the center, which will employ more than 60 staff and function as the company's primary global research and development facility.

Airbee's product portfolio enables consumer and business devices to wirelessly connect to each other over short distances. The company licenses its software to manufacturers of microprocessors used in an increasing number of wireless communications applications. Airbee's competitive edge is attributed to utilizing a software approach versus a hardware approach - enabling it to provide lower cost, greater flexibility, expanded revenue opportunities and shorter time to market for its customers.

Addressing the regional media at a press conference in Chennai last week, Airbee Chief Executive Officer Raj Sundaresan said, "Our initial objective was to design, build and implement a scalable and affordable wireless connectivity solution that could operate on multiple platforms. Having now achieved that objective, we intend to play an integral role in the evolution of the wireless world."

In response to the limitations of other short-range wireless connectivity solutions and the resulting lack of market support for them, Airbee has committed to working with a large variety of microcontroller and transceiver chips. This flexibility has expanded the wireless data communication range of Airbee's technology to more than one mile. This compares very favorably to Bluetooth's 30-foot range.

"At present, we are the only company to our knowledge whose software is platform-agnostic; that is, it can be placed on a chip of any make, such as Motorola or Intel, offering the promise of maximum flexibility. However, the software will have to be made compatible to the hardware that will house it, and significant development work will be required to achieve that. It is precisely this work that will be performed at the Chennai facility," added Sundaresan.

The company's development center is located at 92 Dr. Natesan Road, Mylapore, Chennai, India. It is under the direction of Airbee Chief Technical Officer Ram Satagopan, who is overseeing a series of aggressive development activities in Chennai and Singapore.
