AirTran Reports 20.1 Percent Increase in February Traffic; Load Factor Increases 3.6 Points.

, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 1999--AirTran today announced traffic figures for February 1999. During the month, AirTran flew 255.1 million revenue passenger miles Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) is a measure of a passenger traffic for an airline flight, bus, or train calculated by multiplying the total number of revenue-paying passengers aboard the vehicle by the distance traveled measured in miles.  (RPMs), a 20.1 percent increase over the 212.3 million RPMs flown in February 1998. Available seat miles Available seat miles (ASM) is a measure of an airline flight's passenger carrying capacity. It is equal to the number of seats available multiplied by the number of miles flown. This measures an airlines capacity for transporting passengers.  (ASMs) increased 13.0 percent to 426.7 million from the February 1998 level of 377.5 million.

The February 1999 load factor increased 3.6 percentage points from February 1998 to 59.8 percent. February 1999 passenger enplanements totaled 470,880, a 41.0 percent increase from February 1998.
