AirTran operates over 750 daily flights throughout the eastern USA and the Midwest, including over 270 daily departures from , today announced its intention to sell, subject to market and other conditions, 8,650,000 shares of its common stock pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement previously filed with the Securities and the Exchange Commission.

The underwriters have the option to purchase up to an additional 1,297,500 shares of common stock from AirTran Holdings to cover over-allotments, if any. AirTran Holdings intends to use the net proceeds Net Proceeds
