) today announced that it has begun additional voluntary inspection of the stabilizers The Stabilizers were a pop/rock duo founded in the early 1980s by musicians Dave Christenson and Rich Nevens. With Christenson on lead vocals and Nevens on guitars and occasional keyboards, they spent the first few years touring the Pennsylvania area and recording original  in its DC-9-30 and Boeing 717-200 fleet. It is anticipated that the inspections will be completed within 96 hours.

&uot;This morning we received the recommended stabilizer stabilizer: see airplane.  inspection procedures from Boeing,&uot; said Stephen Kolski, AirTran Airways' senior vice president of operations. &uot;We are currently undertaking this stabilizer inspection as part of our continued commitment to passenger and employee safety.

&uot;Additionally, AirTran has reviewed its aircraft maintenance log book for reports of stabilizer irregularities over the past 13 months and has discovered no significant findings.&uot;

At this time, AirTran Airways operates nine new Boeing 717-200s, with less than 1,000 flying hours each, and 35 DC-9-30s. As part of the airline's existing maintenance program, all aircraft stabilizers are inspected regularly.

The impact on AirTran Airways' schedule is expected to be minimal.
