, Local 528, today jointly announced the ratification of a new five-year contract. The agreement provides the company's approximately 350 Teamster-represented aircraft Mechanics and Inspectors increased wages, benefits and job security over the life of the contract and a new airline-funded defined contribution pension program.

In addition, the parties will benefit from a new apprentice cooperative work study program, which is designed to develop future licensed Airframe & Powerplant mechanics for future employment at AirTran Airways. The airline, with the Teamsters' assistance, is developing its first such program with the Heart of Georgia Technical Institute in Eastman, Georgia Eastman is a city in Dodge County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,440 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Dodge CountyGR6. .
