AirTran Airways Reports October 2001 Traffic Results.

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 2, 2001

AirTran Airways, a unit of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AAI), today reported traffic results for the month of October 2001.

Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) were 294,823,000, an 18.6 percent decrease from October 2000 while Available Seat Miles (ASMs) were 492,107,000, a 5.4 percent decrease from October 2000. Load factor was 59.9 percent in October 2001 compared to 69.6 percent in October 2000.

"We are encouraged by recent booking trends. Passenger traffic is building towards more normal levels," said Robert Fornaro, president and chief operating officer. "Response to our recent fare promotions has been extremely strong and indicates renewed consumer confidence in air travel and high demand for quality low-fare airline service," stated Fornaro.

AirTran Airways served 541,637 passengers in October, an 18.4 decrease from October 2000. For the first ten months of 2001, AirTran Airways served 6,990,971 passengers - an 11.9 percent increase over the same period of 2000.
