) today announced the return of its wildly popular "X-Fares," AirTran's standby program for young travelers.

Through X-Fares, young adults between the ages of 18 and 22 can travel standby to any of the 30 cities AirTran Airways serves for a fare of $47 per segment of travel. To participate, travelers simply select the destination, dates and times they want to travel, and arrive at the AirTran counter one hour before the scheduled time In rallying, the Scheduled Time of any crew is the time, calculated at the beginning of the event, that they should arrive at any given control. It is different from Due Time in that Due Time is dynamic, ie it can change throughout the event as competitors drop time; whereas  of departure. All available flights are listed on AirTran's Web site (www.xfares.com).

"Traveling by air is difficult when you are on a tight budget," said Tanya Apter, student, University of Wisconsin. "With AirTran's X-Fares, flying is affordable. I can visit friends and family more often without exceeding my budget."

AirTran created X-Fares in June 1997, to satisfy increased consumer demand for affordable air travel. To date, more than 150,000 young adults have participated in the program.

     X-Fares provisions include:

--   Travelers must be 18 to 22 years of age
--   The cost is $47 per segment (a segment is defined as one
     take-off and landing)
--   Segment taxes of $2.50 per segment are not included
--   Passenger Facility Charges of up to $3 per segment may apply
--   For placement on a standby list, travelers must arrive at the
     AirTran ticket counter at least one hour prior to the flight's
     scheduled departure
--   Reservations cannot be made in advance
--   Travelers must present valid, government-issued photo
     identification
--   Only one, small carry-on bag per X-Fares traveler is permitted,
     and luggage cannot be checked
--   X-Fares travel is not permitted on Fridays or Sundays
--   Certain holiday blackout dates apply (see below)
--   All travel must be completed by Dec. 14, 2000

The following dates are blacked out for travel in 2000: All Fridays All Friday is a Norwegian punk rock band formed in late 2003.
