"AirTran Airways has filed a civil suit in federal court in Atlanta against Michael Shane Lasseter. AirTran Airways has suffered financial damages and is seeking relief as a result of the events that followed on Mr. Lasseter's admitted breach of security on November 16, 2001, at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. As a result of the Hartsfield Airport shutdown for over four hours on that day, AirTran Airways diverted 17 flights, cancelled 24 flights and delayed 202 flights an average of 2 hours and 15 minutes each. The costs attributed to the breach of security are in excess of $100,000 and will be fully calculated in the coming weeks," stated Richard P. Magurno, AirTran Airways' general counsel.
