In this newly created position, Whitehead will be responsible for the entire Atlanta station operation for AirTran Airways. The airline is the second largest carrier at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (IATA: ATL, ICAO: KATL, FAA LID: ATL), known locally as Atlanta Airport, Hartsfield Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson  where it operates 188 flights per day.

Whitehead brings more than three decades of airline experience to AirTran Airways. In his 33 years at Delta Air Lines, Whitehead held numerous positions in customer services, operations, ramp service and human resources. He most recently served as corporate director of customer services for Delta Air Lines where he was responsible for all customer service-related activities at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
