AirTran operates over 750 daily flights throughout the eastern USA and the Midwest, including over 270 daily departures from  today announced the third in a series of "Tech Innovation Week" initiatives that highlight new programs designed to improve customer service and airline operations. These efforts help AirTran Airways leapfrog many longstanding business technologies and the company's position as an innovative force in the U.S. air travel industry.

Becoming a Pro with PROS

AirTran Airways today announced the initial activation of the PROS revenue management system, which is designed to help the airline forecast the demand for its product and to determine the optimal mix of various fares in order to both stimulate demand and to maximize the company's revenue.

AirTran Airways' PROS system, among other functions, can now forecast the final booking demand for all future departing flights, breaking forecasts down by class for every segment on every leg. In addition, it can recommend adjustments to the number of seats AirTran Airways should consider available for sale in each class of service. This capability helps the airline maximize its overall revenue from each flight.

"This technology initiative will further enhance AirTran Airways' already successful revenue management initiatives," said Kevin Healy, Vice President, Planning and Sales. "With PROS, we can better forecast the correct number of discount seats at the right fare for our price-sensitive leisure passengers, and more accurately forecast when and where we need to preserve seats for the last-minute business traveler."

PROS Revenue Management is the world's leader in pricing and revenue management optimization solutions and the pioneer and dominant provider of revenue management to the airline industry. PROS provides system solutions to the airline, cargo, rail, energy, health care and broadcast industries, and has delivered more than 180 systems to more than 80 clients in 37 countries.
