`Twas the time for holiday travel, and all through the airport, madness and mayhem seemed to be the new sport. People were running in every-which-way, but not you, not on AirTran - this silly game, you did not play!

You packed your bags early last night, in order to save yourself from this plight. Tickets and picture ID ready in hand, you were prepared to go to that far-away land.

When into your thoughts, there sprang some new doubt. You thought to yourself, "Have I left something out?" From your carry-on bag, you brought forth a list, checking carefully to make sure nothing was missed:

-- Before you leave for the airport, verify your itinerary. Either

-- Leave for the airport early, allowing extra travel time for

holiday traffic and longer check-in and security screening lines.

-- At the ticket counter, have your flight information and a photo

ID ready for the agent.

-- During the holiday rush, AirTran recommends that passengers check

in one and a half hours in advance of the flight.

-- Pack light - if you can't carry all your bags by yourself, you've

got too many. Porters or carts may not always be available. Use

wheeled luggage, or take a compact luggage dolly.

-- Check as much baggage as you can. Carry-ons can be cumbersome to

tote around in crowded airports. Limiting carry-ons will also

help speed up the process at security screening lines.

-- Leave gifts and packages unwrapped. You may be asked to open them

for security inspection.

-- Consider shipping holiday packages and even luggage. Fewer items

to carry saves time at both airports, and your bags will be

-- Money, jewelry, medicines and other valuables should be carried

with you on the aircraft.

-- Know the maximum number and dimensions allowed for carry-on

luggage. All customers traveling on AirTran will be restricted to

one carry-on item per person. Carry-ons must fit under the seats

or in the overhead bins.

-- Know the checked baggage policy. For each fare-paying customer,

AirTran allows three checked pieces, with size limitations. The

maximum weight is 70 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches for the

first piece. Additional checked baggage may not exceed 55 inches

or 70 pounds. Excess baggage will be charged at the rate of

$20 per piece.

-- Use luggage tags on every piece, including carry-ons. We

recommend placing identification on the inside of luggage also.

-- Checked baggage should be locked.

-- When traveling with children, bring small toys, books and games

to keep them entertained.

You checked off the list and turned quickly around, off to the gate you were bound. With a smile on her face and a nod of her head, the gate agent assured you there was nothing to dread. She spoke kind words and went straight to her work, you were all set to go so you turned with a jerk.
