AirTouch and U S WEST Name Michael Boskin to Joint Board.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1995--Michael J. Boskin has been appointed as the independent member of the Partnership Committee for the proposed cellular joint venture between AirTouch Communications (NYSE:ATI) and U S WEST (NYSE:USW) announced July 25, 1994.

Former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers during the Bush administration, Boskin currently serves as Professor of Economics and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He is also a member of the panel of advisers to the Congressional Budget Office.

"Recognized around the world for his economic research and work on the impact that changing technology has on capital, labor and products, Michael Boskin will bring a wealth of expertise to our joint venture," said Lee Cox, chairman of the partnership committee and vice chairman for AirTouch Communications.

Boskin fills the vacancy earmarked for an independent, outside director. He will provide advice and counsel, voting in the case of deadlock situations. "We are delighted to have someone of Michael Boskin's caliber and credentials contributing to the future of our wireless business," Cox added.

The partnership committee is set up to address strategic and operational issues for the cellular joint venture that will serve more than 2.4 million customers in 21 states. The joint venture, the first phase of which is expected to close later this year, is approximately 70 percent owned by AirTouch and 30 percent owned by U S WEST.

Other committee members include: Sam Ginn, chairman and CEO, Chris Christensen, chief financial officer, and Arun Sarin, president and CEO, AirTouch International and senior vice president corporate strategy and development, all from AirTouch. From U S WEST, Chuck Lillis, executive vice president and chief planning officer is a member of the committee. Jan Peters, president of wireless operations and investments for the media group and CEO of New Vector, as well as Roger Christensen, vice president finance and administration for domestic business group from U S WEST, will join the partnership committee when the joint venture closes.
