AirTouch Opens One-stop Shopping Retail Store in Omaha, Neb.

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1998--Just in time for the busy holiday shopping season, AirTouch Cellular is celebrating the grand opening of its first one-stop-shopping wireless retail store in Omaha.

The new store, which is the first AirTouch store in the Midwest, will give consumers access to complete wireless communications solutions by offering both cellular and paging equipment and services in one convenient location.

"AirTouch stores complement the many retail choices that AirTouch offers today," said LeAnn Talbot, vice president and general manager for AirTouch's Midwest area. "With the opening of the Omaha store, we are offering cellular equipment and services to the customer who wants to deal directly with AirTouch's trained wireless sales employees."

Located in Omaha at 7215 Dodge Street, the store is the first of two proposed AirTouch-owned stores in Omaha opening during the next three months. Grand opening festivities on December 3 will include a live remote broadcast by LITE 96-KEFM from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food and free giveaways also are planned throughout the weekend.

To celebrate the store openings, AirTouch is offering a special service promotion of 600 digital minutes for $39.95 and an Audiovox 3000 cellular handset for $49, which includes a car lighter adapter. Another in-store promotion features a FREE Motorola StarTac flip phone when signing up for the $24.95 calling plan that includes 60 anytime minutes.

Scott Hoey, branch manager in Omaha, notes that many people now carry both a wireless phone and a pager to insure they have ways to keep in touch with co-workers or loved ones. "People use these tools to complement each other," he said.

For example, a pager can be discretely used in meetings to keep users apprised of important calls or messages. A wireless phone can then be used to return calls when the meeting is completed or the person is in between appointments.
